Christopher Bartley's peek previews into the next issue (49) of V has me longing for September 7th. Excerpts below:
"Photographer Mario Sorrenti's recent collaborations with the British
stylist Jane How consistently seek out the new frontiers in fashion. V49
finds the team back at home, creating clothes and accessories out of
everyday household appliances. How, along with the hairstylist Recine
and prop stylist Philipp Haemmerle, has dreamed up looks composed of
irons, televisions, whisks, spoons, boomboxes, tea kettles, hair
dryers, and other assorted kitchen paraphernalia. In one picture, Dutch
supermodel Lara Stone dons a hollowed-out television set as a helmet
while sitting on the lap of her male model buddy—he himself stitched
into a '70s-style mustard yellow reclining chair. You've got to see it
to believe it. And soon you will.

"If fall fashion's about a return to extreme dressing, then surely
there are no better sources of inspiration than the English
eccentrics—Lady Amanda Harlech, Daphne Guinness, and the late Isabella
Blow, among others. In V49, David Sims and stylist Karl
Templer highlight the best of Fall 2007 as seen through the walk-in
closets of these legendarily well-dressed women. The exuberant,
mad-cap, and downright mad looks are testament to die-hard
individualistic British style. And who better than hot Brit face of the
moment Agyness Deyn to make it all come full circle.
